Configuring a Server Node

This topic describes how to configure a server node so that it can support upper-layer services.

Figure 4-13 shows the initial configuration process for a server node.

Check the server node.

  • Query server node version information and ensure that the version information meets site requirements.
  • Check for server node alarms.

Configure the iBMC.

  • Change the iBMC user name and password for the server node.
  • Set the iBMC IP address for the server node.

Change the initial password for the iBMC U-Boot.

Change the U-Boot password.

Log in to the real-time desktop.

Log in to the iBMC WebUI, and then log in to the operating system (OS) of the server node in remote control mode.

Configure RAID.

For details about how to configure RAID, see the Huawei V2&V3 Server RAID Controller Card User Guide.

Configure the BIOS.

Configure parameters in the server node BIOS, including setting the boot option priority and BIOS password, enabling the NIC Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) function, and setting the PXE option.

Install an OS.

Install an OS for the server node.

The XH628 V3 in the document name is used as an example. You need to refer to the user guide of the server nodes configured on the X6800.
