This document describes the Huawei X6800 server (X6000 for short) in terms of its appearance, features, specifications, system components, device installation, cable connections, and installation verification.

Configuring the BIOS


Configure the BIOS for the Server Node in remote control mode.

To configure the BIOS, perform the following tasks:

  • Set the server node boot priority.
  • Select PXE as a boot option.
  • Enable the Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) function for a NIC.
  • Set the BIOS password.
  • The system enables the password complexity check function by default.
  • A simple password is easy to crack and makes the system vulnerable. You are advised to use a password that meets complexity requirements or to enable the password complexity check function.
  • To ensure system security, change the initial password at the first login and change the password periodically.

Data preparation is not required for this operation.


Figure 4-34 shows the process for configuring the BIOS.

  1. Restart the server.

    1. On the virtual real-time desktop of the Server Node, click on the menu bar.
    2. Select Reset.

      The confirmation dialog box is displayed.

    3. Click Yes.

      The server restarts.

    4. Press Delete repeatedly when the screen shown in the following figure is displayed upon server startup.

    5. Enter the BIOS password as prompted.

      The Main screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-36.


      The default BIOS password is Huawei12#$.

  2. Set the server node boot priority.

    1. Select the Boot tab.

      The Boot screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-37.

    2. Select Boot Type and press Enter.
    3. In the displayed dialog box, select Dual Boot Type or Legacy Boot Type, and press Enter.
    4. Choose Legacy > Boot Type Order and press Enter.

      The Boot Type Order screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-38.

      The boot priority is displayed on the Boot Type Order screen. The default boot priority is as follows:

      1. Hard Disk Drive
      2. CD/DVD-ROM Drive
      3. PXE
      4. Others

  3. Select PXE as a boot option.

    Select PXE, and press + or - to change the order of the boot options.

    • To move a boot option up, press +.
    • To move a boot option down, press -.

    The one at the top of the boot option list is the first boot option, and the one at the bottom is the last boot option.

  4. Enable the PXE function for a NIC.

    1. Choose Advanced > PXE Configuration and press Enter.

      The PXE Configuration screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-39.

    2. Select the network port to be configured, and press Enter.
    3. Select Enabled and press Enter to enable the PXE function.

  5. Set the BIOS password.

    1. Select the Security tab.

      The Security screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-40.

    2. Select Set Supervisor Password and press Enter.

      You need to enter the current administrator password before changing the administrator password. The server node will be locked after three consecutive failures with wrong passwords. You can restart the server to unlock it.

      • The administrator password must be a string of 8 to 16 characters, and contain special characters (including spaces) and at least two types of the following characters: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and digits.
      • A new password cannot be the same as one of the previous five passwords.
      • After the administrator password is set, the following parameters are displayed:
      • Clear Supervisor Password
      • Power on Password
