UC Directory

UC Directory

This section describes how to configure a UC directory.

Context

The directory supports three search methods, by name, by phone number and by department.
  • Search by name

You can search for a contact by first name, last name, initials or abbreviations, or full name.

For example, if a contact's name is Mary Wong, you can enter Mary, Wong, MW, or Mary Wong for a search.

  • Search by phone number

You can search for a contact by fixed-line, mobile, or other numbers.

  • Search by department

You can search for a contact by department.

    NOTE:
    • In the directory of eSpace 8950, a contact's profile picture displayed on the phone screen is the profile picture that the contact has customized on the soft client.
    • In the UC2.X network environment, IP phones can display a tree-structured directory.

The contact information searched out from the directory can be managed on the BMU in a unified manner. For details, see eSpace UC Product Documentation.

Configuration Methods

You can configure a UC directory using four different methods, as listed in Table 5-21.

How to Set (IMS+UC)

How to Modify the Configuration File

Directory Server

Specifies the directory type.
  • When the UC directory is used, select Directory.
  • When the LDAP directory is used, select LDAP.

Only UC2.X and IMS+UC networks support the UC directory.

Set this parameter to BMU.

Set this parameter to PGM.

Value: 0 or 1
  • 0: BMU
  • 1: PGM

Default: 0

Example: Type="0"

Directory Server 1

Indicates the directory server.

Set Directory Server and Port.

  • Server
    • When the HTTP protocol (default) is used, enter IP address or domain name of the AppAgent server, for example, 192.168.1.14.
    • When the HTTPS protocol is used, enter https://IP address or domain name of the AppAgent server, for example, https://192.168.1.14.
    Port
    • When the HTTP protocol (default) is used, use the default value 80.
    • When the HTTPS protocol is used, set this parameter to 8443.

The settings for Directory Server 1 and Port are automatically pushed by the AA server. Therefore, you do not need to manually enter them. If active and standby directories have been deployed for redundancy backup, manually set Directory Server 2 and Port.

Location: Device > ComCfg > Phone > Server

Setting:

  • Set BackupEAddrServerAddress to the address of the standby directory server (only in IMS+UC).
  • Set BackupEAddrServerPort to the port number of the standby directory server (only in IMS+UC).
