This section describes how to obtain data necessary for configuration of eSpace 8950s depending on your needs.

Obtain necessary data, as listed in Table 3-2.

Phone IP address

Generally, eSpace 8950 automatically obtains an IP address from the DHCP server. However, you can still choose to use a static IP address supplied by your network administrator for eSpace 8950.

NOTE:
The IP phone and USB camera communicate with each other using IP addresses 172.31.255.253 and 172.31.255.254. It is not allowed to set the external IP address of the IP phone to 172.31.255.253 or 172.31.255.254; otherwise, an IP conflict will occur.

On the phone home screen, Tap and choose APPLICATIONS > Settings,chooseSettings > About Phone > Status and view the phone's IP address.

Phone MAC address

Obtain the physical address of eSpace 8950's network adapter, which is globally unique.

Hardware version number of the phone

Obtain the hardware version number of eSpace 8950.

On the phone home screen, Tap and choose APPLICATIONS > Settings,chooseSettings > About Phone and view the hardware version number.

Phone SN

Obtain the product serial number (SN) of eSpace 8950.

On the phone home screen, Tap and choose APPLICATIONS > Settings,chooseSettings > About Phone and view product SN.

DHCP server address

Obtain the IP address of the DHCP server.

If a DHCP server has been deployed, obtain the DHCP server address from your network administrator.

If no DHCP server is available, deploy a DHCP server by referring toSetting Up the DHCP Server.

DNS server address

Obtain the IP address of the DNS server. This IP address is required when you are manually configuring the IP phone.

If a DNS server has been deployed, obtain the DNS server address from your network administrator.

If no DNS server is available, deploy a DNS server by referring to Setting Up the AD and DNS Servers.

File server address

Obtain the IP address of the file server that stores upgrade files including the Upgrade Policy File (UPF) and the version file.

If a file server has been deployed, obtain the file server address from your network administrator.

If no file server is available, deploy a file server by referring to Setting Up an HTTP Server.

Registrar server address

Obtain the IP address of the SIP server with which eSpace 8950 registers based on the network environment:

  • In a UC2.X network environment, the SIP server is a gateway of the eSpace U1900 series.
  • In a IMS+UC network environment, the SIP server is a gateway of the eSpace U2900 series. Its IP address is automatically pushed by the Authentication and Admission (AA) server.
  • In an IMS network environment, this parameter is set by the administrator.

Obtain the SIP server address from your network administrator.

AA server address

Obtain the IP address of the AA server, which is deployed only in a IMS+UC network environment.

Obtain the AA server address from your network administrator.

U-Portal server address

This parameter is available only in an IMS network environment.

Obtain the U-Portal server address from your network administrator.

Upgrade server address

Obtain the IP address of the upgrade server based on the network environment:

  • If eSight has been deployed, use the eSight IP address.
  • If eSight is not available, use the IP address of the DHCP Option 246 server.

Obtain the upgrade server address from your network administrator.

Directory server address

Obtain the IP address of the directory server based on the network environment:

  • In a UC2.X network environment, use the IP address of the BMU directory server.
  • In a IMS+UC network environment, use the IP address of the PGM directory server.
  • In an IMS network environment, enter the address of the LDAP server or use the RCS address delivered by the U-Portal server.
  • On the network where the LDAP directory is used, use the IP address of the LDAP server.

Obtain the directory server address from your network administrator.

For details about how to configure an RCS directory, see RCS Directory.

Version file

Obtain and apply it to eSpace 8950 in unified or single phone upgrade mode.

You can log in to http://support.huawei.com/enterpriseand search the keyword eSpace 8950 to download the desired version.

Contact file editing tool

Obtain and use it to edit and generate contact files. For details, see Editing the Local Contact File.

You can log in to http://support.huawei.com/enterprise and search the keyword eSpace 7910/eSpace 7950 to download the tools.zip file of the desired version.

Signal tone, and certificate files

Obtain the files, and import the files into eSpace 8950 in unified upgrade mode or single phone upgrade mode.

The signal tone file is a .wav file in PCM format.

The certificate file is a .pem file. Obtain the certificate file from the corresponding server side.

Configuration file

Modify the configuration file depending on your needs, and apply the modified configuration file to eSpace 8950 by means of, for example, unified configuration file management or file import to a single phone. For details, seeManaging Configuration Files.
