Scenarios

Use the out-of-band upgrade program on Windows.

This program is used only in uMate. You are not advised to use it alone.

Procedure

  1. Enter cmd in the navigation bar of the uMate folder, press Enter, and enter dir.

  2. Run the tools\outBandUpgrade\outBandUpgrade.exe command to obtain help information, as shown in Figure C-14.

    NOTE:

    Run the ./tools/outBandUpgrade/outBandUpgrade.py command on Linux to view help information.

    Specifies the server BMC/MM user name.

    The user must be a system administrator.

    Specifies the server BMC/MM password.

    Specifies the upgrade configuration file.

    restart

    Specifies whether to continue the upgrade.

    If an upgrade is stopped unexpectedly, use this parameter to continue the upgrade.

  3. Prepare the upgrade configuration file profile.xml. Figure C-15 shows an example. For details about the parameters, see Table C-3.

    Specifies the product to be upgraded. It can be Command or E9000.

    UpgradeType

    Specifies the firmware to be upgraded. It can be BMC, BIOS, or mainboard CPLD.

    IP

    Specifies the iBMC IP address of the target server.

    -

    ActiveMode

    Specifies how the upgrade takes effect. At present, only 0 is supported.

    -

    FW

    Specifies the local directory in which the upgrade file is stored.

    It must be an absolute path.

    SSHPort

    Specifies the SSH port number of the target server.

    -

    IpmiPort

    Specifies the IPMI port number of the target server.

    -

    SNMPPort

    Specifies the SNMP port number of the target server.

    -

    lan

    Specifies the IPMI of the target server. It can be lan or lanplus.

    -

    NOTE:

    The profile.xml configuration file cannot contain special characters & and <. The special characters may cause errors. When editing an .xml configuration file, observe the following:

    • Avoid using special characters.
    • Use escape characters for special characters. That is, use &amp; instead of & and use &It; instead of <. The following is an example:

      Use huawei&amp;123 instead of huawei&123.

  4. Perform the upgrade, as shown in Figure C-16.

  5. After the upgrade is complete, perform operations as prompted for the upgrade to take effect.
