Configuring Zones Using Web Tools

Configuring Zones Using Web Tools

The zoning function on the fabric network is similar to the VLAN creation function on an Ethernet. The zoning function divides a SAN into device logical groups. After the zoning function is enabled, the devices in a logical group can communicate only with the devices in the same zone on the fabric network.

Context

NOTICE:

You must configure zones based on application scenarios before connecting the MX220 to other devices.

  • If you want to connect the MX220 to an upstream switch, set the MX220 to the access gateway (AG) mode and configure zones on the upstream switch.
  • If you want to connect the MX220 to a storage device, configure zones by using the following method.

Creating and Enabling Zones

The devices in a zone can be switch ports or nodes on the fabric network.
