Logging In to the Switching Plane

You can log in to the MX220 over a serial port, SSH, Web tools.

By default, the administrator name for the MX220 is admin, and the password is Huawei12#$.

Logging In to the MX220 over a Serial Port

  1. Use a DB9-RJ45 cable to connect the RS232 serial port of the PC to the SYS serial port on the switch module panel.
  2. Use a serial port communication tool to log in to the MX220.

    The key communication parameters are as follows:

    • Serial Line to connect to: COMn
    • Speed (baud): 9600
    • Data bits: 8
    • Stop bits: 1
    • Parity: None
    • Flow control: None

    n indicates the serial port number, and the value is an integer.

    This document describes how to use PuTTY to log in over a serial port. For details, see Logging In to the Server Over a Serial Port by Using the PuTTY.

Follow-up Procedure

After logging in to the MX220, you must set the date and time. For details, see Setting Time and Date.

The MX220 supports the Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) function. Based on certain user security policies, the MX220 can prevent unauthorized users from accessing the MX220 or modifying settings. For details about the user permission access mechanism, see the MX210&MX220_Fabric_OS_Administrator_Guide.

Logging In to the MX220 Using SSH

  1. Connect a terminal (such as a PC) to the management network port of the MM910 by using a network cable.
  2. Run the SSH terminal tool on the PC and enter the IP address of the MX220.

    For details about how to query the IP address of the MX220, see Configuring an IP Address.

  3. On the login page, enter the user name and press Enter.
  4. Enter the password and press Enter to log in to the MX220 CLI.

Logging In to the MX220 Using Web Tools


Java plug-in: Free software. Ensure that its version is JRE 1.6.0_24 or later.

  1. Connect a terminal (such as a PC) to the management network port of the MM910 by using a network cable.
  2. In the browser address box of the PC, enter https://IP address of the MX220, and press Enter.

    The login dialog box is displayed.

  3. Enter the user name and password and click OK.

    The Web Tools page is displayed.
