Connecting to a Storage Network
Figure 5-10 shows the network where the MZ912 connects to an FC disk array through the CX912.
- On vSphere Client, click the Configuration tab. On the Configuration tab page, click Storage Adapters, and view the MZ912 World Wide Names (WWNs). The MZ912 FC ports are displayed in the format of vmhba[num], as shown in Figure 5-11.
- Create a LUN on the FC disk array and map it to the initiator (host), that is, map the LUN to the MZ912 WWN so that ESXi can detect the LUN of the FC disk array. The disk resources are assigned to ESXi and then assigned by the hypervisor to VMs.
Right-click vmhba4, and choose Rescan from the shortcut menu. The mounted LUNs are detected, as shown in Figure 5-12.
- Select VM_1 and click Virtual Machine Properties. On the Virtual Machine Properties tab page, click Add. In the displayed dialog box, select Hard Disk and click Next. In the displayed dialog box, select Target LUN and click Next. In the displayed dialog box, select the scanned LUN, and click Next to proceed with the configuration. See Figure 5-13, Figure 5-14, and Figure 5-15.
The LUNs mounted to VMs are independent of each other. A LUN can be mounted to only one VM.
- After a LUN is added, you can view the new hard disk on the Hardware tab page of VM_1, as shown in Figure 5-16.
