Configuring Network Management
In ESXi, configure an Ethernet port as the management network port and install the VMware vSphere Client on the PC to manage system services.
- On the ESXi main screen, press F2, and enter the user name and password. The System Customization page is displayed, as shown in Figure 5-5.
- Choose Configure Management Network and press Enter. On the Network Adapters page, select a management network port using the Space bar, and press Enter. See Figure 5-6.
- On the IP Configuration screen, select Use dynamic IP address and network configuration to dynamically assign an IP address over DHCP; or select Set static IP address and network configuration, and set IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway. Then press Enter. See Figure 5-7.
- Press Esc. On the displayed screen, enter Y. See Figure 5-8.
- Check that the IP address information is displayed on the right of the screen. See Figure 5-9.
- Run the VMware vSphere Client. After logging in to the tool, you can manage system services.
