Modifying the Properties of a Remote Replication Pair

Modifying the Properties of a Remote Replication Pair

This operation enables you to change the synchronization type, speed, and recovery policy of a remote replication pair.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Remote Replication Properties dialog box.
    1. On the right navigation bar, click .
    2. In the left function pane, click Remote Replication.
    3. Click the Remote Replication tab.

The remote replication management page is displayed.

    4. Select the remote replication you want to modify and click Properties.

The Properties of Pair dialog box is displayed.

  2. Modify properties of the remote replication. Table 3-11 describes related parameters.

    Table 3-11  Remote replication parameters

    Parameter

    Description

    Value

    Synchronization Method

Way of synchronizing data between the primary and secondary resources.
    • Manual: A user needs to manually synchronize data from the primary resource to the secondary resource.
    • Timed wait when synchronization begins: When a data synchronization operation starts, the system waits for a specified period of time. Then the system automatically synchronizes data from the primary resource to the secondary resource.
    • Timed wait when synchronization ends: When a data synchronization operation ends, the system waits for a specified period of time. Then the system automatically synchronizes data from the primary resource to the secondary resource.
    • Specify the time policy: The system automatically synchronizes data between the primary file system and secondary file system based on a specified time policy.

    [Example]

    Manual

    Recovery Policy

Policy applied by a remote replication to recover after the storage system recovers from a failure. The value can be Manual or Automatic.
    • Manual: The maintenance personnel must manually synchronize data from the primary resource to the secondary resource.
    • Automatic: The system will automatically synchronize data from the primary resource to the secondary resource.

    [Example]

    Automatic

    Speed

The rate at which data is synchronized from the primary resource to secondary resources. The value can be Low, Medium, High, or Highest.
    • Set the rate to Low or Medium when service load is heavy on the storage system.
    • Set the rate to High or Highest when service load is light on the storage system.

    [Example]

    High

    Time Policy

Specify the time policy: automatically synchronize primary and secondary file system based on time policy.
    • Hourly: Specifies when data synchronization begins in every hour. Its value is an integer ranging from 0 to 59.
    • Daily: Specifies when data synchronization begins in every day. Its value ranges from 00:00 to 23:59.
    • Weekly: Specifies when data synchronization begins in every week. Its value ranges from Monday to Sunday and 00:00 to 23:59.

    [Note]

This parameter is valid only when the Replication Mode is Asynchronous, the resource type is file system, and Synchronization Method is Specify the time policy.

    Interval

Time spent waiting of the two synchronization types, Timed wait when synchronization begins and Timed wait when synchronization ends.

    [Note]

This parameter is available when Replication Mode is set to Asynchronous and Replication Type to Timed wait when synchronization begins or Timed wait when synchronization ends.

    [Value range]

An integer ranging from 5 to 1440 (inclusive), when minutes is used as the unit.

    [Example]

    80

  3. Confirm the remote replication modification.
    1. Click OK.

The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

    2. Click Close.
