After the production center recovers from a failure, the storage system in it restarts and conducts a self-check. Then, the storage system in the DR center detects that the connection to the storage system in the production center resumes. After that, you can switch services back to the production center and replicate data generated during the failure period to the production center.

Service Switchback Process

After the production center recovers from a failure, you can switch services back to it, thereby enabling the production center to take over services again.

Figure 3-2 shows the flowchart for switching services back to the production center.

Configuration Procedure

After the production center recovers from a failure, you can switch services back to it and replicate data generated during the failure period to it.

Procedure

  1. On the storage system that resides in the DR center, perform a primary/secondary switchover for the remote replication pair.
    1. Log in to DeviceManager of the storage system in the DR center.
    2. Choose Data Protection > Remote Replication.
    3. Select the remote replication pair for which you want to perform a primary/secondary switchover and choose More > Primary/Secondary Switchover.

      NOTE:

      After the switchover, the file system in the DR center becomes the primary file system, the file system in the production center becomes the secondary file system.



  2. On the storage system in the DR center, enable secondary resource protection to make the file system in production center unreadable and unwritable.
    1. On the storage system in the DR center, select the remote replication pair that needs secondary resource protection.
    2. Choose More > Enable Protection for Secondary Resource.



  3. On the storage system in the DR center, select the remote replication pair that needs data synchronization and choose More > Synchronize to synchronize data to the storage system in the production center.



  4. After data synchronization is completed (Pair Running Status is Normal), in the DR center, suspend host services and unmount the shared file system on the host.

    To cancel the mounting, use the either of the following commands:
    • On the Linux client, use umount /local_path.
    • On the Mac OS client, use sudo umount /local_path.
    • On the Windows client, use net use DeviceName /del, where DeviceName indicates the disk drive that needs to be disconnected.

  5. On the storage system in the DR center, synchronize data again to ensure that all data is synchronized to the storage system in the production center.



  6. After data synchronization is completed (Pair Running Status is Normal), split the remote replication pair on the storage system in the production center.



  7. On the storage system in the production center, cancel secondary resource protection to make the file system in production center readable and writable.



  8. On the storage system in the production center, perform a primary/secondary switchover for the remote replication pair.

    NOTE:

    After the switchover, the file system in the production center becomes the primary file system, the file system in the DR center becomes the secondary file system.



  9. On the storage system in the production center, enable secondary resource protection to make the file system in the DR center unreadable and unwritable.



  10. In the production center, mount the primary file system to the host. For details, see OceanStor 5300 V3&5500 V3&5600 V3&5800 V3&6800 V3 Storage System V300R002 Basic Storage Service Guide for File.
  11. Recover the upper-layer services in the production center.
  12. On the storage system in the production center, select the remote replication pair and choose More > Synchronize to restore the remote replication relationship.
