(Optional) Installing a CSS Subcard

For the S12700, CSS subcards are installed in subcard slots of SFUs.

Handle a card slowly, gently, and do not touch the electronic components on the card.

Tools and Accessories

  • ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 50 cm x 50 cm ESD fabric

  1. Lay the ESD fabric on a desk or another flat surface. Use the ESD bag of a card as a substitute if no ESD fabric is available.
  2. Wear an ESD wrist strap or a pair of ESD gloves. When wearing an ESD wrist strap, insert the other end in the ESD jack of a device and ensure that the device is reliably grounded.
  3. Take out the motherboard from the ESD bag and place the motherboard on the ESD fabric.
  4. Install a CSS subcard.
    1. Take out the CSS subcard from the ESD bag and rotate the ejector levers outward. Hold the panel of the CSS subcard and slowly insert the CSS subcard into the subcard slot, until the hooks on the ejector levers hook on the interior side of the slot. See callout 1 in Figure 8-2.
    2. Rotate the ejector levers inward until the CSS subcard is completely seated in the subcard slot. See callout 2 in Figure 8-2.
    3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the captive screws on the CSS subcard. See callout 3 in Figure 8-2.
