CSS Card and Installation Slot

Two types of CSS cards are available: independent CSS cards and CSS cards integrated on the panel.
  • SFUs of the following models need to have independent CSS cards installed, and these CSS cards can be installed in the following slots: (CSS card ET1D2VQ06000 is supported since V200R012C00.)
    • SFU ET1D2SFUA000 subcard slot (supported on the S12704/S12708/S12712, which can have CSS card EH1D2VS08000 installed)
    • SFU ET1D2SFUC000 subcard slot (supported on the S12704/S12708, which can have CSS cards EH1D2VS08000 and ET1D2VQ06000 installed)
    • SFU ET1D2SFUD000 subcard slot (supported on the S12708/S12712, which can have CSS cards EH1D2VS08000 and ET1D2VQ06000 installed)
  • SFUs of the following model have integrated CSS cards (supported since V200R010C00):
    • ET1D2SFUB000 applicable to S12704/S12708/S12712

In the following context, CSS card models, EH1D2VS08000 and ET1D2VQ06000, are abbreviated to VS08 and VQ06 respectively; SFU models, ET1D2SFUA000, ET1D2SFUB000, ET1D2SFUC000, and ET1D2SFUD000 are abbreviated to SFUA, SFUB, SFUC, and SFUD, respectively.

Switches that use SFUBs can set up a CSS with switches that use SFUAs, SFUCs, or SFUDs.

Hardware Configuration

  • Two switches of the same model or different models can set up a CSS, but a switch using MPUA cannot set up a CSS with a switch using MPUD. For example, two S12704s using MPUA can set up a CSS, and one S12708 using MPUA can set up a CSS with one S12712 using MPUA. However, one S12704 using MPUA cannot set up a CSS with one S12704 using MPUD.
  • Each chassis must have at least one MPU and one SFU installed. You are advised to install at least two SFUs and two CSS cards in each chassis. An S12704 can have a maximum of two SFUs and two CSS cards installed. Additionally, ensure that each SFU has at least one cluster cable connected to the other chassis. It is recommended that all CSS ports be connected.

  • The SFUs in one chassis must be of the same model. The SFUs in two chassis can be of different models; however, the same model is recommended.
  • The CSS cards in one chassis must be of the same model. The CSS cards in two chassis can be of different models; however, the same model is recommended.

Hardware Configuration

  • Only two S12710s can set up a CSS.
  • Each chassis can have only one MPU installed. It is recommended that each chassis have two MPUs installed. If 1+N backup of MPUs is required so that a CSS can operate normally even if two MPUs in one chassis are faulty, SFUs also need to be installed.
