Replacing a Power Module

Replacing a Power Module

This section explains how to replace a power module of the C72.

Impact on the System

During the replacement of a power module, system reliability is reduced.

  • A replacement power module is ready.
  • The power module that you want to replace has been located.
  • The power cable has been disconnected from the power module that you want to replace.

  • Do not touch the connectors of a power module and a power cable.
  • Use care when you remove and insert a disk module to avoid any damage to the appearance or connectors of the power module.
  • Remove only one power module at a time.
  • You are advised to replace a power module within the shortest time possible.

Tools and Materials

  • ESD wrist strap
  • ESD bag
  • Labels

  1. Wear an ESD wrist strap.
  2. Press the latch on the power module and pull out the power module, as shown in Figure 5-11.

  6. Connect the power cable and secure it to the power socket.
  7. Wait about two minutes and check the status of the activity indicator on the power module to determine whether the power module is successfully installed. Figure 5-13 shows the location of the status indicator.

    • If the indicator is steady green, the power module is successfully installed.
    • If the indicator is off, the newly installed power module is faulty, the slot that houses the power module is faulty, or the power module is incorrectly installed.
