Replacing a Power Module

Replacing a Power Module

This section explains how to replace a power module for the P25.

Impact on the System

No impact on normal operations.

  • A new power module is available.
  • The faulty power module is located.

Before replacing the power module, disconnect the power module from the external power supply to avoid damage to human body and devices.
  • Use even strength during plugging in or out a power module. Excessive force may damage the appearance or units of the module.
  • Keep the interval between removing and installing a power module within 2 minutes.
  • Do not hold the module on top of the ejectors when installing it to avoid damage to your fingers.

Tools and Materials

  • ESD gloves
  • ESD wrist strap
  • ESD bag
  • Labels

  1. Wear the ESD wrist strap or gloves. For details, see Wearing an ESD Wrist Strap in Replacing a Main Control Board Enclosure.
  2. Check the status of the power running/alarm indicator to locate the faulty power module.

Remove an AC power module. Press the spring leaf of the AC power module and hold the handle. Then, remove the power module slowly, as shown in Figure 3-6.

  3. Put the removed power module into the ESD bag. The operation of removing the power module is complete.
  4. Take the power module to be installed out of the ESD bag. Install the power module into the device.

Install an AC power module. Insert the power module into the vacant slot until it is tightly inserted, as shown in Figure 3-7.

  5. Connect the power cable of the P25 to the external power supply, and then power on the P25.

Connect the two AC power modules to external power supplies, as shown in Figure 3-8.

  6. Check whether the installation is successful by observing the status of the power running/alarm indicator.

    • If the power running/alarm indicator is steady green, it indicates a successful installation.
    • If the power running/alarm indicator is steady red or off, the power module may not be properly installed. Remove and reinstall the power module.

Follow-up Procedure

After the power module is replaced, label the replaced power module for the convenience of subsequent handling.
