Parts Replacement List and Policies

This section describes the parts replacement list and replacement policies.

During replacement of faulty hardware components in the OceanStor 9000, observe the following principles:
  • When replacing components of the storage node, perform operations in this document, and recover services by referring to related alarms and performing operations in the OceanStor 9000 Troubleshooting Guide.
  • When replacing switches and other components, remove and install the devices by performing operations in delivery-attached manuals and recover services.
  • The new hard disk must be obtained from the Huawei or Huawei authorized agent.
Table 1-1 lists the replaceable components and replacement policies of the OceanStor 9000.

Service disk module

Support for hot swap.

The allowed maximum number of faulty service disks is related to redundancy ratio settings. Replace a faulty service disk in a timely manner to prevent data loss.

System disk module

Support for hot swap.

RAID 1 has been configured for system disks. Replacing one disk has no impacts on system running.

When one system disk is faulty, replace it in a timely manner.

Power module

Support for hot swap.

Two power modules are configured by default. Replacing one power module has no impacts on system running.

When one power module is faulty, replace it in a timely manner.

Main control board enclosure

NOTE:

Replace the main control board enclosure if its CPU or mainboard becomes faulty.

The server needs to be powered off before replacement. Replace the faulty main control board enclosure in a timely manner.

Memory module

The server needs to be powered off and the main control board enclosure needs to be removed before replacement. Replace the faulty memory module in a timely manner.

NVDIMM module

The server needs to be powered off and the main control board enclosure needs to be removed before replacement. Replace the faulty NVDIMM module in a timely manner.

Service disk backplane

The server needs to be powered off and the main control board enclosure needs to be removed before replacement. Replace the faulty service disk backplane in a timely manner.

Network adapter

The server needs to be powered off and the main control board enclosure needs to be removed before replacement. Replace the faulty network adapter in a timely manner.

Fan module

The server needs to be powered off and the main control board enclosure needs to be removed before replacement. Replace the faulty fan module in a timely manner.

Integrated system

The server needs to be powered off before replacement.

The allowed maximum number of faulty nodes is related to redundancy ratio settings. Replace the faulty storage node in a timely manner to prevent data loss.

Disk Module

Support for hot swap.

Expansion Module

Need to be powered off before replacement.

Power Module

Support for hot swap.

CBU Module

Fan Module

Support for hot swap.

Controller Module

NOTE:

Replace the controller if its CPU, mainboard, or memory module becomes faulty.

Need to be powered off before replacement.

S5352C-SI/S5700-52C-SI GE switch

Integrated system

The switch needs to be powered off before replacement.

When the OceanStor 9000 management network has only one switch, replacing the switch will affect device maintaining and remote management.
