Adding a Remote Replication

Adding a Remote Replication

This operation enables you to add a remote replication pair to a consistency group. This ensures that the data of secondary resource of added pair is consistent with that of other pairs in the group at the same point in time.

  • The properties of the remote replication to be added into the consistency group must be the same as the properties of the consistency group. The properties are Replication Mode, Synchronization Method, Interval, Speed, and Recovery Policy.
  • A remote replication can be added only when the Role of the consistency group is Primary.
  • The number of the remote replication in consistency group does not reach the maximum number of specifications.
  • If the consistency group is empty (no remote replication pair), the remote replication is split.
  • If the consistency group is not empty (with remote replication pair(s)), the consistency group and the remote replication are both split.

  • Only the remote replication that has the same replication mode as the consistency group can be added to the consistency group.
  • A remote replication whose state is Normal, Synchronizing, Interrupted, Invalid, To Be Recovered, or Unknown cannot be added to a consistency group.

  1. Go to the dialog box for adding a remote replication.
    1. On the right navigation bar, click .

The Add Remote Replication Pairs dialog box is displayed.

  2. From the Available Remote Replications Pairs list, select a remote replication and click Right Arrow to add it.

Please select the remote device first, when there is no remote replication from the Available Remote Replications Pairs list.
