Performing a Primary/Secondary Switchover for a Remote Replication

Performing a Primary/Secondary Switchover for a Remote Replication

This operation enables you to switch the roles of the primary and secondary LUNs of a remote replication. When a primary LUN is faulty, you can perform a primary/secondary switchover to make the secondary LUN function as the primary LUN.

Prerequisites

  • The remote replication for which you want to initiate a primary/secondary switchover is not added to a consistency group.
  • Based on Pair Running Status and Secondary LUN Data Status of the remote replication, determine whether a primary/secondary switchover can be performed for the remote replication, as shown in Table 4-18.

Procedure

  1. Go to the remote replication management page.
    1. On the right navigation bar, click .
    2. In the left function pane, click Remote Replication.
    3. Click the Remote Replication tab.

The remote replication management page is displayed.

  2. Perform a primary/secondary switchover for a remote replication.
    1. Right-click the remote replication you want to perform the switchover and choose Primary/Secondary Switchover.

The security alert dialog box is displayed.

  3. Confirm the primary/secondary switchover.
    1. Confirm the information in the dialog box. Select I have read and understood the consequences associated with performing this operation. and click OK.

The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

    2. Click OK.
