How Do I Calculate ACL Resources

How Do I Calculate ACL Resources

The method of calculating used ACL resources is as follows:

Number of used rules = Total number of rules in ACLs x Number of interfaces where ACLs are applied x 2 (indicating bidirectional resources)

The special scenarios are as follows:

  • ACL rule splitting: For example, if an ACL is configured with a port number range, an ACL rule can be split into multiple rules.
  • Combination of different types of ACLs: For example, if a basic or advanced ACL and a Layer 2 ACL are configured together in a traffic policy, the number of available ACL resources is twice the number of independent basic or advanced ACL resources.
