What Are Possible Causes for APs' Failures to Go Online on an AR Router?

After the WLAN service is configured for an AP connected to an AR router, the AP cannot go online. Common causes are as follows:
  • The AP is not a Huawei's AP product. AR routers can connect to only Huawei's APs.

  • The AP version does not match the AC version. Log in to the AC and the AP. Run the display version command to view the versions of the AC and the AP. For matching versions of ACs and APs, see What Are Matching Versions of ARs and APs? If the versions of the AC and AP do not match, upgrade or downgrade the version of the AC or AP.

  • The AC version does not support the AP model. For AP models supported by the AC, see What AP Models Does an AR Router Support? If the AC does not support the AP model, replace an AP model supported by the AC.

  • The WLAN AC function is unavailable on the AR router. In versions earlier than V200R005C32, the WLAN AC function is used with a license and is unavailable by default. To use the WLAN AC function, apply for and purchase a license from the agent based on the AR model.

  • For the AR100&AR120&AR150&AR160&AR200&AR1200&AR2200&AR3200&AR3600 series routers and AR100-S&AR110-S&AR120-S&AR150-S&AR160-S&AR200-S&AR1200-S&AR2200-S&AR3200-S series routers, the number of online APs on the AC exceeds the maximum number of APs that can connect to the AC without licenses. AR routers provide the WLAN AC function by default in V200R005C32 and later versions. However, only 4 APs can connect to an AR router without licenses by default. To connect more APs to an AR router, load licenses.   • No PVID is configured for the network access device directly connected to the AP.

  • SN or MAC address authentication is enabled on the AC, but the AP is not on the AP whitelist.
