Troubleshooting Cases: Restarting the Device
Some network faults will be rectified after you restart the device. This section describes how to restart a device.
You can restart the device using any of the methods in the following table.
Method |
Description |
---|---|
Turn off and then turn on the power switch to restart the device. |
Cold restart is performed manually. In cold restart, a device can be restarted only by pressing the power button, which has limitations and is applicable to onsite maintenance. Save the configurations in real time because the device will restart directly without saving the current configuration. |
Run the reboot command in the user view to restart the device. |
Hot restart uses commands, which is adopted by maintenance personnel who remotely manages the device. In restart, the system asks whether to save the configuration, which effectively prevents configuration loss. |
Hold down the RESET button in less than 5s to restart the device. |
If you use this method, only the device CPU is restarted and the service interruption duration is short. Save the configurations in real time because the device will restart directly without saving the current configuration. |
