When outgoing traffic is rate-limited on an interface, cir-value and cbs-value in the qos gts cir cir-value [ cbs cbs-value ] and gts cir { cir-value [ cbs cbs-value ] } commands greatly affect the rate limit accuracy on the interface. By default, the CBS is 25 times the CIR. The default value is an empirical value, which can meet the rate limit requirements in most cases. If the default CBS is used but the rate limit on an interface is inaccurate, you can use the following method to calculate the CBS:

The ratio of the CBS to the CIR is defined as the Tc. When configuring the rate limit, ensure that the Tc values of the upstream and downstream devices are the same. For example, if Tc is 2 on the upstream device and the CIR is 100000 on the downstream device, the CBS must be 200000 on the downstream device. Otherwise, the rate limit on the interface may be inaccurate.

The actual CBS value may be affected by many factors. Currently, there is no unified method for calculating the CBS. We will summarize more methods for configuring the CBS based on the actual application scenarios on the live network.
