How Do I Capture Packet Statistics on an AR?

Context

The packet capturing function allows devices to capture received packets for fault location. This function simplifies the configurations of packet analysis device and network monitoring device. You can run the capture-packet command to configure the packet capturing function so that you can view captured packets on the terminal interface to locate the fault.

If an error occurs when the capture-packet command is executed to capture incoming and outgoing packets on an interface, you can capture packets on the router by tracing the process to rectify the fault.

Procedure

  1. Configure an ACL. If a specific type of data packet is proposed, Advance-ACL is used for filtering.

  2. Configure a traffic classifier to capture data packets associated with the ACL configured in step 1.

  3. Configure a traffic policy to bind the traffic classifier and behavior.

  4. Configure a traffic policy and apply the policy to an interface in the inbound or outbound direction. This depends on the incoming or outgoing direction of data packets.

  6. Display packet statistics in the inbound direction of the interface.
