This section describes how to troubleshoot the AR startup failure.

Fault Symptom

There are four startup failures:

  • No configuration is displayed on the configuration terminal after the AR starts up.
  • Garbled characters are displayed.
  • The Boot phase is retained.
  • The message "no match window" is displayed.

Fault Analysis

  • Parameters on the console port are incorrectly set.
  • The power module of the AR is faulty and the AR is not powered on.
  • The cable is incorrectly connected.
  • The system software loaded incorrectly or the device startup path is set incorrectly.
  • The storage medium such as the SD card or USB flash drive of the startup file is removed or not in good contact.
  • The memory module is loose.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the console port cable is correctly connected to the console port and whether parameter settings are the same as those in Table 13-1.
Table 13-1  Parameters settings on the console port

    Parameter

    Value

    Baud rate

    9600

    Data bit

    8

    stop bit

    1

    Parity check

    None

    Flow control

    None

    • If so, go to 2.
    • If not, correctly set the parameters. The process ends.
  2. Check whether the Power indicator on the AR panel is on.
    • If so, go to 3.
    • If not, the AR is not powered on. See the list of indicators. Then the process ends.
  3. Replace the console port cable and check whether the cable before replacement is faulty.
    • If the fault is rectified after the replacement, the console port cable is faulty. The process ends.
    • If the fault persists after the replacement, go to 4.
  4. Reconfigure the system file.
    1. Power off and restart the AR. When the AR enters the "Press Ctrl+B to break auto startup" phase, rapidly press Ctrl+B.

Info: Succeeded in setting the file for booting system
  5. The startup file can be stored in the flash memory, SD card, and USB flash drive of the AR. If the startup file is stored in the SD card or USB flash drive, the AR cannot start up when the SD card or USB flash drive is removed. In this case, you need to reinstall the SD card or USB flash drive. Sometimes, the AR cannot start up because the SD card or USB flash drive is not in good contact. You are advised to remove and reinstall the SD card or USB flash drive and then restart the AR.

For the AR2240/AR3260, remove the SRU from the frame, remove and reinstall the memory module, and fasten the socket of the memory module.

----End

Suggestion

Performing the preceding operations can solve most startup problems.
