This document describes the features, appearance, and technical specifications of the 5288 V3 server, and how to install, power on, and power off the 5288 V3 server, connect cables, and install an operating system (OS) for it.

Installing the Front Hard Disk Backplane

Install a hard disk backplane to replace the original one.


  1. Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see Safety Instructions.
  2. Remove the front hard disk backplane to be replaced. For details, see Removing the Front Hard Disk Backplane.
  3. Take the spare front hard disk backplane out of its ESD bag.
  4. Align the notches on the hard disk backplane with the hooks (the mechanical part marked with a red box in Figure 7-107), move the hard disk backplane horizontally to the head of the chassis until the hard disk backplane cannot move forward, and move the hard disk backplane downwards until the latches are locked. See (1) in Figure 7-107.

  5. Tighten the screw on the hard disk backplane. See (2) in Figure 7-107.
  6. Connect the cable of the front hard disk to the server. For details, see Internal Cabling.
  7. Install the front hard disk.
  8. Install the fan module bracket.
  9. Install the fan modules. For details, see Installing a Fan Module.
  10. Install the air duct. For details, see Installing the Air Duct.
  11. Install the chassis cover. For details, see Installing the Chassis Cover.
  12. Install the 5288 V3. For details, see Installing the Server.
  13. Connect all internal cables such as power and network cables. For details, see Connecting External Cables.
  14. Power on the 5288 V3. For details, see Powering On the Server.
