Logging In to the iBMC WebUI

Scenarios

Log in to the iBMC WebUI using the browser of your local PC. The following describes the login procedure using a PC that uses Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8.0 as an example.

Impact on the System

This operation has no adverse impact on the system.

Prerequisites

Conditions

The OS, browser, and Java runtime environment (JRE) versions of the local PC that uses the remote control function comply with the requirements listed in Table A-3.

The local PC meets the following networking requirements:

  • A network connection has been established between the local PC and the iBMC management network port.
  • IP addresses of the local PC and iBMC management network port are on the same network segment.

Procedure

  1. Use a network cable (crossover or twisted pair) to connect the local PC and the iBMC management network port of the server.

    Figure A-12 shows the networking.

  2. Open the Internet Explorer on your local PC.
  3. In the address bar, enter the iBMC IP address in the format of https://IP address of the iBMC management network port (for example, https://192.168.2.100), and press Enter.

    NOTE:

    For details about the IP address of the iBMC management network port, see Querying the IP Address of the iBMC Management Network Port (Grantley Platform).

  4. Press Enter.

    The iBMC login page is displayed in the Internet Explorer, as shown in Figure A-13.

    NOTE:
    • If the Internet Explorer displays Certificate Error, click Continue to this website (not recommended).
    • If the Security Alert dialog box is displayed, click OK.

  5. On the iBMC login page, enter your user name and password.

    NOTE:

    If you log in with incorrect passwords for five consecutive times, the system will lock your account. Try again 5 minutes later.

  6. In the Domain drop-down list box, choose This iBMC.
  7. Click Log In.

    The Information Summary page is displayed. The login user name is displayed at the upper right corner on the page.
