RTU License
Definition
RTU is an entitlement for hardware capabilities, such as the number of spatial streams, capacity, and ports. An RTU license cannot be migrated after being bound to a device. As a part of hardware value, RTU licenses have the same lifecycle as the hardware.
Purpose
- Reduced initial investment: The RTU provides customers with a method of purchasing hardware capabilities in installments, which can significantly reduce initial investment and quickly achieve balance between income and expenditure.
- Improved spatial stream and radio mode: The RTU improves the air interface capacity and supports more flexible radio modes, thereby applying to more scenarios.
- Reduced OPEX: Capacity expansion is implemented by remotely loading RTU licenses, without the need to expand the hardware capacity.
Characteristics
- Convenience
After applying for RTU licenses in batches, you will obtain an RTU license package. You need to upload the RTU license package to the AC or AP, and then load the package to automatically deliver the RTU licenses to the corresponding APs.
- Security
A license file is bound to the Equipment Serial Number (ESN) of a device. That is, a license file belongs to only one device. A license file will become invalid if it is manually modified, protecting the license against theft.
Usage Description
RTU licenses are hardware resource licenses that can expand the following hardware capabilities:
- Number of spatial streams: The number of spatial streams supported by AP radios is increased to improve the air interface capacity.
- Radio mode: More radio modes are supported, such as three-radio and independent scanning radio modes, to flexibly adapt to different service scenarios.
