change mapping_view

change mapping_view

Function

The change mapping_view command is used to modify the properties of a mapping view. The properties include the mapping view name and the in-band command switch. Also, it can be used to change the host LUN IDs of the LUNs in mapping_view.

Format

change mapping_view mapping_view_id=? { name=? | command_device=? } *

change mapping_view mapping_view_id=? { name=? | host_lun_id_list=? } *

Parameters

Parameter

Description

Value

mapping_view_id=? Mapping view ID.

To obtain the value, run the "show mapping_view general" command.

name=? New mapping view name.

The value contains 1 to 31 characters including digits, letters, hyphens (-), underscores (_), and periods (.).

command_device=? Whether to enable in-band command function.

The value can be :

  • "enable": enables in-band commands.
  • "disable": disables in-band commands.
host_lun_id_list=? Changes the host LUN ID of a LUN.

The value is the mapping between LUN ID and Host LUN ID. The format is "LUN ID:Host LUN ID". If there are more than one mappings, separate them with commas (,). Run the "show host lun" and "show host snapshot" commands to query the host LUN IDs that have been assigned. A LUN ID ranges from 0 to 65535, and a host LUN ID ranges from 0 to 511. A maximum of 64 mappings is supported.

Level

Administrator

Usage Guidelines

  • To change the name of a mapping view, run the "change mapping_view mapping_view_id=? name=?" command.
  • To enable or disable host in-band commands, run the "change mapping_view mapping_view_id=? command_device=?" command.
  • To change the name of a mapping view and the state of the host in-band command switch at the same time, run the "change mapping_view mapping_view_id=? name=? command_device=?" command. If switch on command_device, a virtual LUN smaller than 1 MB may be detected on the host. The LUN can receive in-band commands, but cannot be read or written. Ignore this LUN when configuring services on the host.
  • To change the host LUN ID of a LUN, run the "change mapping_view mapping_view_id=? host_lun_id_list=?" command.

Example

  • Renaming mapping view "10" to "newmap10".

    admin:/>change mapping_view mapping_view_id=10 name=newmap10
    Command executed successfully.
  • Changing the host LUN IDs of LUNs "1" and "2" in mapping view "1" to "5" and "6" respectively.

     admin:/>change mapping_view mapping_view_id=1 host_lun_id_list=1:5,2:6
DANGER: You are about to change the host LUN ID of the LUN in mapping. This operation may interrupt host services or cause data inconsistency if services are running on the host. This operation causes the LUN unable to be detected by the host if the new host LUN ID is beyond the host LUN ID range supported by the host.
    Suggestion: Before performing this operation:
    1. Ensure that you have selected the correct LUN, stopped host services running on the LUN, and uninstalled physical disks and virtual disks generated by the multipathing. After this operation, scan disks on the host again.
    2. Ensure that the new host LUN ID is within the host LUN ID range supported by the host.
Have you read danger alert message carefully?(y/n)y
Are you sure you really want to perform the operation?(y/n)y
    Command executed successfully.
  • Starting the command device of mapping view "1".

    admin:/>change mapping_view mapping_view_id=1 command_device=enable
    Command executed successfully.
