Removing an AC PSU

Removing an AC PSU

This section describes how to remove an AC power supply unit (PSU) before replacing it with a new one.

Impact on the System

In the process of replacing a power module on an SVP, if the redundant power supply on the SVP fails unexpectedly, the SVP will be powered off. As a result, all services running on the SVP will be interrupted.

  • If the SVP has two PSUs configured, you can remove one PSU without powering off the SVP. Before removing the PSU, make sure that the other PSU is working properly and its power rating is greater than or equal to the rated power of the whole SVP.
  • You have determined the position on the SVP for removing a PSU.
  • You have obtained the rack number and chassis number of the SVP.
  • You have located the SVP based on the preceding information, and labeled its panel to prevent misoperations.

Tools and Materials

  • ESD gloves or ESD wrist strap

  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag

  1. (Optional) If only one PSU is configured, power off the SVP.
  2. Open the cable tie for the power cable. See Figure 7-7.
