Using SmartKit for Parts Replacement (Recommended)

As a piece of multi-purpose tool software, Huawei SmartKit (SmartKit for short) efficiently helps users to quickly replace field replaceable units (FRUs), and automatically checks software and hardware status before and after the replacement to ensure that components are successfully replaced.

Context

SVP components cannot be replaced using SmartKit.

Procedure

  1. Start the SVP.
  2. Run the SmartKit.
    1. On the SVP desktop, double-click the SmartKit icon.

      The login page is displayed.

    2. Enter the user name and password and click Log In.

      NOTE:

      Use the admin account and password of the OceanStor DeviceManager to log in to the SVP. The default user name and password are admin and Admin@storage respectively.

  3. Choose MyTools > Maintain.
  4. In the right function pane, click FRU Replacement.

    The Select Device dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-1.

  5. Select the device with unit you want to replace, and click OK.

    The FRU Replacement dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-2.

  6. In the FRU Replacement area, click the parts that you want to replace.

    Take optical module for example. The Replace Optical Module Wizard dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-3.

  7. In the optical module list, select the optical that you want to replace, and click Next.

    The system prepares for the optical module replacement, as shown in Figure 3-4.

  8. Click Next.

    The optical replacement page is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-5.

  9. Click Replaced.

    The Warning dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-6.

    NOTE:

    Before performing this step, you must manually replace the corresponding unit.

  10. Click OK.

    The system automatically performs post-replacement check, as shown in Figure 3-7.

  11. Click Next.

    The Complete page is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-8.

  12. Click Finish.

    You have finished replacing an optical module.
