Managing Mapping Views

Managing Mapping Views

This section describes common operations to manage mapping views including creation, modification and deletion, and precautions for performing the operations.

Table B-13 lists common operations to manage mapping views.
Table B-13  Common operations to manage mapping views

Create mapping views to establish mappings between a LUN group and a host group.

When multiple hosts are added to the same mapping view, they may write data to one LUN concurrently, resulting in data destruction or inconsistency. You are advised to install cluster management software on application servers.

View basic information about mapping views including their status, as well as host and port information.

Modify mapping objects.

If services change, you can modify mapping objects to adjust mappings between a host group and a LUN group.

Modify host LUN ID.

Manually modify host LUN ID based on actual conditions.

  • In mapping views, a LUN group must contain LUNs.
  • Different hosts may have the same host LUN ID.
For details about how to perform the management operations above, see the Help.
