Resetting the Pre-shared Key

Resetting the Pre-shared Key

For security purposes, you are advised to periodically reset the pre-shared key. Using the pre-shared key you set and the system's secure key generation algorithm, the system generates a new authentication certificate. This certificate is used to authenticate the session between the storage system and antivirus (AV) agent.

  1. Set the pre-shared key on the storage system.
    1. Log in to DeviceManager.
    2. Choose Settings > AntiVirus > Pre-Shared Key Settings.
    3. Set the parameters New Pre-Shared Key and Confirm Pre-Shared Key.

      • The New Pre-Shared Key must be same as the Confirm Pre-Shared Key.
      • The pre-shared key must meet the following complexity requirements:
        1. Contains 16 to 63 characters.
        2. Contains spaces and special characters including !"#$%&\'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[\\]^`{_|}~
        3. Contains any two of the following character types: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and digits.

    4. Click Save.

The Success dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation succeeded.

    5. Click OK.
  2. Set the pre-shared key on the antivirus server.
    1. In the cfg folder under the installation directory, find configuration file agentConfig.ini for the antivirus agent. Click the file to open it.
    2. In the configuration file, change the value of Pwd, which indicates the pre-shared key, to the same value as that on the storage system. Save the configuration file.

For security purposes, the value of Pwd is encrypted in the configuration file. After the configuration file is opened again, the value of Pwd is displayed as null. However, the pre-shared key has taken effect.

    3. Restart the antivirus agent program.
The pre-shared key has been successfully set

Follow-up Procedure

After the settings are complete, choose Settings > Antivirus > Antivirus Server on DeviceManager. In the Status area, view the antivirus server status. When the antivirus server status is normal, the settings are successful. Otherwise, reconfigure the settings.
