Routine maintenance activities are the most common activities for the storage device, including powering on or off the storage device, managing users, modifying basic parameters of the storage device, and managing hardware components. This document applies to the system administrators who are responsible for carrying out routine maintenance activities, monitoring the storage device, and rectifying common device faults.

Deactivating a Snapshot

Deactivating a Snapshot

When the capacity of the storage pool where the source LUN resides becomes insufficient, you can use this operation to cancel the snapshot function. This releases the capacity occupied by other snapshots.


  • At least one application-based snapshot has been created in the system.
  • Running Status of each LUN in the application-based snapshot is Activated.
  • The snapshot LUNs of each LUN contained in the application-based snapshot are not configured with LUN copy.


Deactivating an application-based snapshot group deactivates all of the snapshots contained in the snapshot group and makes them unavailable.


  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Data Protection > Snapshot > Application.
  3. From the drop-down list in the upper area of the left function pane, select an application type.
  4. In the upper area of the left function pane, select the snapshot that you want to deactivate and choose More > Deactivate on the menu bar.

    The security alert dialog box is displayed.

  5. Confirm the snapshot deactivation.
    1. Confirm the information in the dialog box, select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation., and click OK.

      The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating the operation result.

    2. Click Close.
