Routine maintenance activities are the most common activities for the storage device, including powering on or off the storage device, managing users, modifying basic parameters of the storage device, and managing hardware components. This document applies to the system administrators who are responsible for carrying out routine maintenance activities, monitoring the storage device, and rectifying common device faults.

Setting an Antivirus Server on the Storage System

This section describes how to configure the server where the third-party antivirus software and the software agent reside.

Adding an Antivirus Server

This section describes how to add an antivirus server for scanning CIFS shared files for viruses.


  • The antivirus server and its agent are working correctly.
  • Ensure that logical ports used for antivirus server connections are configured for each controller in the storage system. Ensure that the IP addresses of the logical ports can correctly communicate with those of the service network ports.


An antivirus server supports a maximum of eight logical ports.


  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > Antivirus > Antivirus Server.
  3. Add an antivirus server.
    1. Click Add.

      The Add AntiVirus Server dialog box is displayed.

    2. Set the parameters for the antivirus server that you want to add.

      Table 3-23 describes related parameters.

      Name of an antivirus server

      [Value range]

      • Contains 1 to 127 characters.
      • Contains only letters, digits, underscores (_), periods (.), and hyphens (-).
      • Must be unique.




      Vendor of the antivirus server software

      [Value range]

      Possible values are Symantec Protection Engine, Symantec Endpoint Protection, McAfee or Trend Micro ServerProtect.


      Symantec Protection Engine

      IP Address

      IP address of an antivirus server



      ID of the port used by an antivirus server

      [Value range]

      An integer ranging from 1 to 65535.

      [Default value]


      CIFS Logical Port

      Logical port ID used by an antivirus server to access a CIFS shared file.

      [Value range]

      A maximum of eight logical ports are supported for an antivirus server.



      Click Add. On the dialog box that is displayed, add or change logical ports.

  4. Confirm the operation.
    1. Click OK.

      The Success message box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

    2. Click OK. The operation is completed.

Follow-up Procedure

Configure virus handling strategies on the antivirus server as instructed in Security Configuration Guide.

Managing an Antivirus Server

This section describes how to change the logical ports used by the antivirus server.


At least one antivirus server has been added to the system.


  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > Antivirus > Antivirus Server.
  3. Select the antivirus server for which you want to change the logical ports. Then click Properties.

    The Properties dialog box is displayed.

  4. Click Add or Remove to modify the CIFS logical port information about the antivirus server.
  5. Click OK.

Follow-up Procedure

If one or more antivirus servers expired or are no longer unnecessary, you can remove the antivirus servers.
