Routine maintenance activities are the most common activities for the storage device, including powering on or off the storage device, managing users, modifying basic parameters of the storage device, and managing hardware components. This document applies to the system administrators who are responsible for carrying out routine maintenance activities, monitoring the storage device, and rectifying common device faults.

Configuring an Antivirus Software

By installing and configuring a third-party antivirus software, you can connect the antivirus agent to the antivirus server to make antivirus services take effect.

Prerequisites

Only one service IP address should be configured on the antivirus server, or the antivirus function may be unavailable.

Context

The Table 3-22 lists the third-party antivirus software supported by the system.

Procedure

  1. Install the antivirus software.

    For details about how to install the third-party antivirus software, see its corresponding installation guide.

  2. Optional: If Symantec Protection Engine is used, set a start account.
    1. Start the Server Manager management page.
    2. In the navigation tree, choose Server Manager > Configuration > Services.

      The Services page is displayed.

    3. Right-click Symantec Protection Engine and choose Properties.

      The Symantec Protection Engine Properties dialog box is displayed.

    4. On the Log On tab in the dialog box, choose This account, enter the user name and password, and confirm the password.

      NOTE:
      This user is an antivirus domain user of the AntivirusGroup antivirus group on the storage system.

    5. Click OK.

      The starting account is successfully set.

    6. Restart the antivirus software.
  3. Configure the scan policy for the antivirus software.

    • To configure Symantec Endpoint Protection, perform the following steps.
      1. Run the antivirus software and open its home page.
      2. In the navigation tree, click Change Settings.
        The Change Settings page is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-4.

      3. Choose Virus and Spyware Protection and click Configure Settings.
      4. On the Virus and Spyware Protection Settings dialog box that is displayed, click the Auto-Protect tab. In the Options area, select Scan files on remote computer, and deselect Only when files are executed, as shown in Figure 3-5.

      5. Click Actions.

        The Scan Actions dialog box is displayed.

      6. Confirm that First action and If first action fails are set to Clean risk and Quarantine risk respectively. Then click OK.
      7. Click OK. The configuration is complete.
    • To configure Symantec Protection Engine, perform the following steps.
      1. Run the antivirus software and open its home page.
      2. Choose Policies > Views > Scanning.
      3. On the right plane, select Enable virus scanning, Security Risks, and Scan all files, and set Bloodhound detection level and Antivirus scan policy to Medium and Scan and repair or delete respectively, as shown in Figure 3-6.

    • To configure Trend Micro ServerProtect, perform the following steps.
      1. Run the antivirus software and open its home page.
      2. Choose Set Scan Option > Real-time Scan.
      3. In the Scan direction area on the right, select Incoming & outgoing.
      4. Click Set Action.

        The Set Action dialog box is displayed.

      5. In the File viruses area, select Customize scan actions. You are advised to set Action and Action if cleaning fails to Clean and Quarantine respectively, as shown in Figure 3-7. Click Apply.

      6. Click Apply.

        The scan policy is set.

    • To configure McAfee VirusScan Enterprise, perform the following steps.
      1. Run the antivirus software and open its home page.
      2. Choose Task > On-Access Scanner Properties.

        The On-Access Scan Properties dialog box is displayed.

      3. Click All Processes and click the Scan Items tab in the right area.
      4. In the Scan Files area, select On network drives and keep other settings unchanged, as shown in Figure 3-8.

      5. Click OK.

        The scan policy is set.
