create snapshot general

create snapshot general

The create snapshot general command is used to create snapshots. You can create an identical and usable point-in-time duplicate for a data object by running this command.

create snapshot general lun_id_list=? name=? [ snapshot_id=? ]

lun_id_list=? ID of a source logical unit number (LUN).

To obtain the value, run "show snapshot available_lun".

You can specify multiple source LUN IDs separated by commas (,), or ID range separated by hyphens(-), such as: 0, 5-8.

name=? Name of a snapshot.

The value contains 1 to 31 characters including letters, digits, hyphens (-), underscores (_), and periods (.).

When creating snapshots in a batch, the length of name=? cannot exceed 27 characters.

snapshot_id=? ID of snapshot. You can set the snapshot id for the newly created snapshot. It can not be changed after you specified. Storage system can automatically assign to a storage snapshot id when you do not specify.

The value is an integer ranging from 0 to 65535.

Usage Guidelines

You can create multi-snapshots for different LUNs in the mean time.

  • To create a snapshot for LUN "5", and the name is "new".

    admin:/>create snapshot general lun_id_list=5 name=new
Create snapshot of LUN 5 successfully.
  • To create a snapshot respectively for LUNs "1", "3", and "4".

    admin:/>create snapshot general lun_id_list=1,3,4 name=new001
Create snapshot of LUN 1 successfully.
Create snapshot of LUN 3 successfully.
Create snapshot of LUN 4 successfully.
