Function

The create virtual_machine general command is used to create a virtual machine (VM).

Format

create virtual_machine general name=? owner_container_id=? memory=? vcpu_count=? { sys_disk_size=? | template_name=? }

Parameters

name=? Name of the VM.

The value contains 1 to 63 characters, including letters, digits, underscores (_), and periods (.), and cannot start with a period (.).

owner_container_id=? ID of the VM owner container.

To obtain the value, run the "show vm_container general" command without parameters.

memory=? Memory allocated to the VM.

The value ranges from 128 MB to 1 TB.

vcpu_count=? Number of CPUs in the VM.

The value is an integer between 1 and 32.

sys_disk_size=? System disk size of the VM.

The value ranges from 1 GB to 1TB.

template_name=? Name of the template.
  • The value contains 5 to 63 characters, including letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.), cannot start with a period (.), and must end with file name extension .img.
  • To obtain the value, run the "show vm_template general" command.

Usage Guidelines

Only OceanStor 5300 V3 (32 GB memory), 5500 V3 (48 GB/64 GB memory), 5600 V3 (64 GB/128 GB memory), and 5800 V3 (128 GB/256 GB memory) support this command.

Example

  • Create a VM by specifying the system disk size.

    admin:/>create virtual_machine general name=xlj owner_container_id=0 memory=4GB vcpu_count=1 sys_disk_size=100GB 
    Command executed successfully.
  • Create a VM by specifying the template.

    admin:/>create virtual_machine general name=xlj owner_container_id=0 memory=4GB vcpu_count=1 template_name=xlj.img
    Command send successfully.
