CLI User Levels

CLI User Levels

Command line interface (CLI) users are classified into the following levels: super administrator, administrator, and guest.

  • Super administrator

    • This level of users has full permissions on the storage system and can execute all commands.
    • Users at the administrator and guest levels cannot execute commands at this level.
    • The super administrator can manage users at the same or a lower level.
    • This level of users can create Super administrator, administrators and guests.
  • Administrator

    • This level of users has partial permissions on the storage system and can execute certain commands.
    • User at the super administrator can execute commands at this level, and the guest level cannot execute commands at this level.
  • Guest

    • This level of users has no permission on the storage system and can only execute common query commands.
    • Users at the super administrator and administrator levels can execute commands at this level.
  • Backup management

    For V300R003C20, if the super administrator runs the create user command on the CLI to create a local user, the super administrator can set the backup management role for the local user. This role has permissions of administrators and read-only users.
    • Permissions of administrators: Create, modify, delete, and query snapshots and LUN groups on the CLI.
    • Permissions of read-only users: Query snapshots and LUN groups on the CLI.
    The super administrator can manage backup administrators on the CLI only.
