Removing the Supercapacitor

Removing the Supercapacitor

This section describes the precautions and procedure for removing the supercapacitor from a CH225 V3.

Remove a supercapacitor in any of the following scenarios:

  • A supercapacitor fails and is to be replaced.
  • A supercapacitor is low in power.

You need to replace the trans flash module (TFM) along with a supercapacitor when replacing the supercapacitor.

Figure 8-48 shows the position of the supercapacitor.

Data preparation is not required for this operation.

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves.
  • M3 Phillips screwdriver.
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag.

  1. Remove the supercapacitor's 6-pin cable from the RAID controller card. See step (1) in Figure 8-49.
  2. Press the plastic latches and push the supercapacitor out of the supercapacitor box horizontally. See steps (2) and (3) in Figure 8-49.

  3. Place the removed supercapacitor in an ESD bag.
  4. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws that secure the supercapacitor box, and lift the supercapacitor box upwards. See steps (1) and (2) in Figure 8-50.
