Removing a SATADOM

This section describes the precautions and procedure for removing a SATADOM from a CH225 V3.

Scenarios

Remove a SATADOM in either of the following scenarios:

  • A SATADOM fails.
  • A SATADOM is to be replaced with a new model.
NOTE:

For details about how to erase data from a SATADOM, see Erasing Storage Media Data.

Figure 8-78 shows the numbering and positions of the SATADOMs.

NOTE:

SATADOM1 and SATADOM2 correspond to Serial ATA Port2 and Serial ATA Port3 respectively in BIOS.

Prerequisites

Conditions

Data

Data preparation is not required for this operation.

Tools

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves.
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag.

Procedure

  1. Determine the SATADOM to be removed.

    Figure 8-78 shows the numbering and positions of the SATADOMs.

  2. Press and hold down the latch on the SATADOM, and remove the SATADOM from the connector on the compute node, as shown in Figure 8-79.

  3. Place the removed SATADOM in an ESD bag.
