Installing a CH225 V3

This section describes the procedure and precautions for installing a CH225 V3 in an E9000 chassis.

Install a CH225 V3 in a Huawei E9000 chassis. Ensure that you are familiar with the hardware devices before the operation.

Impact on the System

This operation has no adverse impact on the system.

Data preparation is not required for this operation.

The following tools are available before the operation:

  • Protective gloves.
  • ESD gloves.
  • ESD wrist strap.
  • Box cutter.

Figure 3-1 shows the process for installing a CH225 V3.

Figure 3-1 Installation process

  1. Unpack the CH225 V3.

    1. Check whether the packing case and seals are in good condition.

If the packing case is damaged (for example, the packing case is soaked or deformed, or the seals or pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is unsealed), fill in the Cargo Problems Feedback Form.

    2. Hold the box cutter properly to avoid hurting hands or damaging the device in the packing case.

Use a box cutter to cut the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape on the packing case.

    3. Unpack the CH225 V3, as shown in Figure 3-2.

    4. Take out the CH225 V3s together with ESD bags and place them separately on an ESD mat, as shown in Figure 3-3.
      Figure 3-3 Proper operation

Do not take out the CH225 V3 from its ESD bag if you do not install it immediately.

  3. Remove the filler panel.

    1. Press and hold the grooves inward on both sides of the filler panel and remove the filler panel. See step (1) and step (2) in Figure 3-6.

    2. Place the removed filler panel in an accessory recycling bin.

  4. Install the CH225 V3.

    1. (Optional) Remove the partition board, as shown in Figure 3-7.
The partition board must be removed before you install a full-width compute node.
      1. Press and hold down the hole and push the partition board inwards. See steps (1) and (2) in Figure 3-7.
      2. Move the partition board rightwards and remove the partition board. See steps (3) and (4) in Figure 3-7.

    2. Press the release buttons on the CH225 V3. See step (1) in Figure 3-8.
      Figure 3-8 Installing the CH225 V3
    3. Open the ejector levers on the CH225 V3 completely. See step (2) in Figure 3-8.
    4. Insert the CH225 V3 horizontally into the chassis until it comes into contact with the signal backplane. See step (3) in Figure 3-8.
    5. Close the ejector levers on the CH225 V3. See step (4) in Figure 3-8.

  5. Check the indicator status.

Check the indicator status after the CH225 V3 is powered on.

For details about the indicators, see Table 2-1.
