(Optional) Configuring a Multicast Source Lifetime

(Optional) Configuring a Multicast Source Lifetime

Context

An IGMP proxy-capable router starts a timer for each (S, G) entry. A multicast source lifetime is the timeout period of an (S, G) entry generated by the IGMP proxy-capable router.

The IGMP proxy-capable router starts a timer upon receiving the first multicast data packet for group G from source S. The router resets the timer each time it receives a multicast packet sent from source S. If the router does not receive any multicast packet from source S within the lifetime of the source S, the router determines that source S has stopped sending multicast data to group G and the (S, G) entry has become invalid.

Procedure

  1. Run:

    system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run:

    igmp [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name ]

    The IGMP view is displayed.

  3. Run:

    proxy source-lifetime interval

A multicast source lifetime is configured.

The default multicast source lifetime is 210s.
