OSPF/6/BAD_OSPF_PACKET

OSPF/6/BAD_OSPF_PACKET

Message

OSPF/6/BAD_OSPF_PACKET: Received the first bad OSPF packet within an interval of 15 minutes. (ErrorType=[STRING], ErrorInformation=[STRING], ProcessId=[USHORT], InterfaceName=[STRING], SourceAddress=[IPADDR], DestinationAddress=[IPADDR], NeighborRouterId=[IPADDR], PacketType=[USHORT], Count=[ULONG], PacketLength=[USHORT], PacketContent=[STRING])

Description

The first incorrect OSPF packet was received within 15 minutes. Each packet error type has a specific suppression measure, and suppression measures do not affect each other.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
ErrorType Packet error type
ErrorInformation Key packet error information
ProcessId Process ID
InterfaceName Interface name
SourceAddress Source IP address of packets
DestinationAddress Destination IP address of packets
NeighborRouterId Neighboring router ID
PacketType Packet type
Count Number of incorrect packets (The number is reset after being displayed. This means that the number of incorrect packets in a displayed log only indicates the number of incorrect packets generated since the last time the number of incorrect packets was displayed.)
PacketLength Packet length
PacketContent Packet contents, in the hexadecimal format

Possible Causes

This log is displayed if a router receives OSPF error packets (for example, the OSPF packets fail the authentication or fail to be parsed). The 15-minute suppression is performed on the error packets of the same type.

Procedure

  1. Locate the fault based on packet error types:

    • If OSPF packets fail the authentication, verify configurations of the local router.

    • If the OSPF packets fail to be parsed, verify configurations of the packet-sending router.

  2. Contact contact technical support personnel.
