Function

The set authentication-mode password command configures the local authentication password.

By default, the local authentication password is Admin@huawei.

Parameters

Parameter Description Value
password Specifies the local authentication password.

The value is a string of 6 to 20 case-sensitive characters. It must be a combination of at least two of the following: uppercase letters A to Z, lowercase letters a to z, digits, and special characters excluding question marks (?) and spaces.

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

You can run this command to change the password for users requiring password authentication.

Prerequisites

The authentication mode for assessing a user interface has been set to password authentication. Otherwise, the command configuration does not take effect.

Precautions

  • The entered password must meet the following requirements:
    • It is a string of 6 to 20 case-sensitive characters.

    • It must be a combination of at least two of the following: uppercase letters A to Z, lowercase letters a to z, digits, and special characters excluding question marks (?) and spaces.

  • If you run this command multiple times, only the latest configuration takes effect. After the modification takes effect, you need to enter the new password when logging in to the device.
