mirror (traffic behavior view)

mirror (traffic behavior view)

The mirror command used in the traffic behavior view enables traffic mirroring to mirror packets matching certain rules to the observing port.

The undo mirror command disables traffic mirroring.

By default, traffic mirroring is disabled.

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

Traffic mirroring includes local traffic mirroring and remote traffic mirroring.

After a traffic policy containing a traffic behavior is configured on a port, the device mirrors the packets that match the traffic policy to the local observing port or remote observing server. The local observing port must be a LAN-side port.

In remote traffic mirroring, mirrored packets are transmitted to the observing server through a Layer 3 network.

  • A traffic behavior has been created using the traffic behavior command.

  • In local traffic mirroring, the local observing port has been configured using the observe-port command.

Follow-up Procedure

Create a traffic classifier and a traffic policy, bind the traffic classifier and traffic behavior to the traffic policy, and apply the traffic policy to the mirrored port.

  • An observing port or server can be applied to port mirroring and traffic mirroring simultaneously. However, you cannot identify the source of mirrored packets by using the display interface command.

  • Traffic mirroring does not affect system security but affects system performance. To ensure system performance, disable traffic mirroring when you do not need to monitor traffic.
