MSDP/6/PEER_TIMEOUT:In VPN instance "[vpn-instance-name]", a session with peer [peer-address] was closed because the peer holding time expired. (FlCode=[STRING][ULONG])


The session with the peer was closed because the connection with the peer timed out.


Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
[vpn-instance-name] Indicates the name of a VPN instance.
[peer-address] Indicates the IP address of the peer.
FlCode Indicates the name of the source code file and the line number of this log message.

Possible Causes

The Connection timer timed out.


  1. Check that the physical lines are normally connected.
  2. Check whether the peer configurations change.
  3. Re-establish the connection if the route changes and the peer becomes unreachable.
  4. End.
