Managing NDMP Backup on the CLI

This section explains how to configure Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) backup parameters, and enable or disable the NDMP backup service on the command-line interface (CLI).

Changing Basic Information of the NDMP Service

Resource administrators or users with higher permissions can change basic information of the Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) service, including specifying whether to enable the NDMP service, changing the listen port, changing the write threshold, and specifying whether to enable the snapshot-based backup mode and whether to ignore ctime.

The command is as follows:

change ndmp_service general [is_enabled] [port] [write_thread_hold] [is_support_snapshot] [ignore_CTime]

Table 13-9 describes the command parameters.

Specifies whether to enable the NDMP service.

  • true: Enables the NDMP service.
  • false: Disables the NDMP service.

port

Listening port.

10000 to 10099

NOTE:
By default, the port ID is 10000. To ensure that services work normally, do not change the value.

write_thread_hold

Write threshold

The value ranges from 0 to 100. The unit is percent.

is_support_snapshot

Specifies whether to enable snapshot-based backup.

  • true: Enables snapshot-based backup.
  • false: Disables snapshot-based backup.

ignore_CTime

Specifies whether to ignore the ctime property.

  • true: Ignores the ctime property.
  • false: Not ignore the ctime property.

Resetting the Password of the NDMP Service

Super administrator can reset the password of the NDMP service.

The command is as follows:

change ndmp_service reset_password

You will be prompted to enter the super_admin password once and new password twice. The password must be 8 to 31 characters in length, contains special characters and two types of lowercase letters, uppercase letters, and digits. It cannot be the same as the user name or user name typed backwards.

Changing the User Name and the Password of the NDMP Service

Resource administrators or users with higher permissions can change the user name and the password of the NDMP service on the CLI.

The command is as follows:

change ndmp_service username_password <user_name>

Table 13-10 describes the command parameter. To obtain the parameter value, see Querying NDMP Service Information, or you can enter a new user name.

The value can contain 1 to 31 letters, digits, hyphens (-), underscores (_), and dot (.). The value cannot end with hyphens (-), underscores (_), and dot (.).

You need to enter the old password and new password after running the command.

Resource administrators or users with higher permissions can change the user name of the NDMP service on the CLI.

The command is as follows:

change ndmp_service username <user_name>

Querying NDMP Service Information

Resource administrators or users with higher permissions can query the NDMP service information on the CLI.

The command is as follows:

show ndmp_service

The following is an example:
