Recording, playout, and production systems used in the media and entertainment (M&E) and broadcasting fields typically require high availability. Customers such as TV stations require storage systems to provide various data protection features such as snapshot and remote replication to ensure business continuity.

To avoid accidentally deleting mission-critical data such as important audio-visual materials, customers require the automatic backup feature to improve work efficiency and reduce cost. The requirements are as follows:
  • Requirement 1: Data is backed up in real time without service interruption, the backup speed is fast, and the storage footprint is small.
  • Requirement 2: The storage system automates backup without manual intervention.

Requirement Analysis and Conclusions

The InfoStamper feature meets the customer requirements for minimal cost, business continuity, and data availability.

Snapshots can be manually created for directories at important points in time so that data can be quickly recovered in the event of file damage or misoperation.

A periodic snapshot policy is configured to back up specific video programs periodically (for example, at 20:00 each day). If any error occurs, data can be recovered to a previous point in time preserved by a snapshot. The snapshot period in a periodic snapshot policy can be set to a point in time on a monthly, weekly, or daily basis.
