Application Planning

From the aspects of node deployment and service configuration, this section describes how this TV station plans to use InfoTier to store and manage daily data.

Node Deployment

The requirement analysis indicates that the TV station needs a storage tier to store hot data and a storage tier to store large amount of cold data.

  • High-performance tier

    This storage tier consists of performance node pools. Nine P25 nodes form a performance pool.

  • Capacity tier

    This storage tier consists of capacity node pools. Four C72 nodes form a capacity pool.

Node pools are created during system deployment.

Service Configuration

InfoTier planning is based on the preceding analysis of this TV station's data storage and management requirements. If other features are required to meet other service requirements, refer to the OceanStor 9000 product documents for configuration planning.

Table 3-9 describes the service configuration planning of the TV station when it uses InfoTier to store and manage data.

File pool policy

Considering the characteristics of the services in the TV station, data is categorized as follows:

  • New files are frequently accessed and can be considered hot files.
  • Data that is accessed more than 10 times every day is considered hot data.
  • Data of VIP customers is considered hot data.
  • Data that has been accessed for less than three times within 7 days and that is more than 100 MB is considered cold data.

Based on the storage capacity reliability requirements, when 90% or more space in the performance tier has been used, no data can be written into this storage tier, and all data will be written into the capacity tier.

Configure a file pool policy for the performance tier:
  • Set Name to Performance_Policy.
  • Set Users/Groups to VIP.
  • Set I/O Read-write count to more than 10 read-write operations within 1 day.
  • Set Operation Type to Save to Specific Tier and select Performance_Tier.
Configure a file pool policy for the capacity tier:
  • Set Name to Capacity_Policy.
  • Set File size to more than 100 MB.
  • Set I/O Read-write count to less than 3 read-write operations within 7 days.
  • Set Operation Type to Save to Specific Tier and select Capacity_Tier.
