This section describes the background, definition, and benefits of InfoScanner.

Viruses that are spread quickly can cause data loss and affect system running. To avoid virus threat to data sharing, OceanStor 9000 introduces InfoScanner to protect data from virus attacks.

InfoScanner is an antivirus feature. OceanStor 9000 provides Antivirus Agent Software and interconnects with third-party antivirus software installed on external antivirus servers, thereby protecting shared directories from virus attacks. The third-party antivirus software accesses shared directories using the CIFS protocol and performs antivirus scanning for the files (in real time and periodically). When the antivirus software detects viruses in a file, it backs up the file to an isolation directory and kills the viruses in scan directory. In this way, data in OceanStor 9000 is protected continuously.

Table 8-1 describes the benefits of the InfoScanner feature.

OceanStor 9000 interconnects with the third-party antivirus software installed on external antivirus servers. Files infected by viruses are backed up virus-infected files to an isolation directory, and killed the viruses in scan directory, enhancing security protection for the overall system.
